FAQs

Am I too old to start Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

You’re never too old to start your BJJ journey. We offer a safe training environment and your safety is our number one priority. We will encourage you to train at your own pace.

I have no prior experience, is that okay?

Absolutely! We all had a first day once! Putting on the white belt and walking into your first class is the hardest part. The rest is easy.

I’m a female, is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for me?

The Gracie family developed Jiu Jitsu in such a way that a smaller, weaker person can control and dominate a stronger, larger one. If a female is attacked on the streets, it will likely be by a larger male. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will give you the tools to properly defend yourself from a larger aggressor. It will give you a level of confidence that will likely deter a would-be aggressor. Attackers prey on the weak.

I’m ready for my first class. What should I wear?

For your first class, wear comfortable gym attire. Ladies, we recommend wearing leggings under your shorts. We have loaner gi’s for gi training. Please do not wear jewelry, blue jeans, or shoes on the mat.
